At Oraum Healthcare, we provide compassionate, Medicaid-approved in-home and community-based support for individuals with developmental disabilities across Virginia. We understand that every person has unique strengths, challenges, and goals, which is why our approach is built on person-centered care — placing the individual and their aspirations at the heart of everything we do.
Our team of skilled Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) delivers more than assistance — we foster independence, confidence, and community connection. From helping with daily routines like meal preparation, hygiene, and household tasks, to guiding meaningful community outings, volunteering, and employment preparation, we support each person in living a safe, healthy, and fulfilling life.
We also partner closely with families, guardians, and support coordinators to ensure services align with the Individual Support Plan (ISP) and meet all Medicaid waiver requirements, including the Community Living (CL), Family & Individual Supports (FIS), and CCC Plus waivers. Whether at home or out in the community, we focus on building real-life skills, promoting self-advocacy, and empowering each individual to achieve their personal goals while ensuring care is respectful, culturally aware, and responsive to their needs.
Our Direct Support Professionals assist with everyday living needs, including meal preparation, personal care, medication reminders, and safety awareness. Services are delivered with respect, compassion, and consistency to help each individual feel secure and supported.
We encourage active participation in the community through safe, sensory-friendly outings, errands, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities. Every trip is planned to promote social engagement, independence, and confidence.
We work with individuals, families, and support coordinators to create a care plan tailored to each person’s goals, strengths, and needs. Plans are reviewed regularly to adapt as skills grow and circumstances change.
We help family members who serve as caregivers navigate training, compliance, and ongoing support requirements. Our goal is to empower caregivers to deliver the highest standard of care while maintaining their own well-being.
Our team ensures that all services meet Medicaid, WaMS, and DMAS documentation standards. This protects service continuity and supports transparency with families and case managers.
We provide coaching in essential daily skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, and personal safety. Building these skills fosters independence and prepares individuals for more self-directed living.
Our respite services offer short-term relief for primary caregivers, providing trusted, qualified staff to step in while the caregiver takes time to rest, recharge, or attend to other responsibilities.
We support individuals in preparing for and finding meaningful work through resume building, job coaching, interview preparation, and workplace behavior guidance.
Structured activities and group outings give individuals the opportunity to form friendships, build social skills, and enjoy community events in a safe and supportive environment.
We offer reliable transportation for medical appointments, errands, work, and community events, ensuring individuals can stay active and engaged in daily life.
We promote healthy living through guidance on nutrition, light physical activity, and lifestyle habits that support long-term well-being — always adapted to each person’s abilities and preferences.
Our DSPs use positive reinforcement and individualized strategies to help manage behaviors, reduce anxiety, and build self-regulation skills. We work closely with families and support teams to ensure a consistent, compassionate approach in all settings.
Every journey starts with a conversation. During your initial call, we’ll listen to your family’s situation, walk through your care goals, and explain how Virginia’s Medicaid waiver system works. Whether you’re new to services or transitioning providers, we’ll answer your questions and outline your next steps — clearly and compassionately.
Once we understand your needs, we help verify eligibility through your local Community Services Board (CSB) and ensure all required documentation is in place. We coordinate with waiver case managers and Medicaid systems like WaMS and DMAS to make sure service authorizations, hours, and compliance requirements are met before care begins.
After eligibility is confirmed, we create a customized Individual Support Plan (ISP) focused on your goals, routines, and daily care needs. Our DSP team is matched based on experience, communication preferences, and behavioral support fit. Once the plan is approved, services begin in your home and community with a strong foundation of structure and trust.
We don’t just check boxes — we stay connected. From progress tracking and care updates to documentation management and periodic reassessments, Oraum provides continuous support that aligns with state regulations and personal needs. We advocate for long-term consistency, family collaboration, and quality of life across every stage of care.
